As reported in Financial Times, Microsoft’s Bing is now indexing tweets, the short messages posted by Twitter users, in its search results! This is huge as it can potentially means fresh source of traffic you can drive to your website. In the same report, Google will in due be indexing real-time Twitter’s entire service.

Honestly, I do not know why people tweet but I do it. Personally, I see it as a micro-journaling tool, and hopefully Twitter will be around decades from now where my descendants can learn from or more about us just like we do with the caveman and the jurassic creatures. More and more businesses are twittering simply because their target audience are found there. According to the May 2009 comScore report, Twitter has grown by a staggering 1,318%!

It remains to be seen if Twitter will last but with approximately 50 million visitors dropping by, you should include it as part of your online marketing strategy. As always, do not pass any judgement unless you are able to test and track the effectiveness of this channel. As for now, my sense is this, the traffic driven from search engines will convert better and traffic from these social networking platforms are worth watching for now.

To really learn and understand more about Twitter, start by following me on Twitter, or better yet, follow people like Oprah, Donald Trump, Warren Buffett and many other celebrities/stars.
