Why Ask Search Engine? Well, the craze on PPC very much revolves around some of the major search engines like Google, Yahoo and Microsoft and at times it can get little too crowded which does drive up the bid prices. The quality of searchers are also very different. In fact there are campaigns that perform a whole lot better in Yahoo than Google when it’s the exact same campaign I am using.

In terms of search engine market share, it’s very small by global standard, but there is still a decent number of traffic coming through.

So I decided to give Ask a go. I think there are something you need to know before you take the plunge. Firstly, the bid prices on Ask is much much lower, and I think you will get decent traffic if you are targeting USA.

The set up of campaign is pretty straightforward but be careful about turning off your adgroup though, once I did that I can’t seem to locate it thereafter. I had to recreate it again.

Secondly, the payment option works on the auto refill manner pretty much like Yahoo except for one thing, they deduct based on your daily budget set. So if you set a daily budget of $20, they will charge your credit card an amount of $60 (3 times) automatically. Guess what, I set mine at $100 and they deducted $300 right off my card. Thankfully, their customer service was prompt and they did give me a refund of $200.

And I have also requested for the auto-refill option to be turned off. As of this writing, I have yet to breakeven on my campaign but I do see potential in Ask Search Engine.
