If you just implement just one of the tips here, I guarantee you will save money immediately at Google Adwords. Before Adwords, there was Overture and a bunch of other ppc engines where advertisers can tap on. All worked on the principle of the higher you bid, the higer your website ranks which should result in more traffic. Google came along and changed the game forever. Over the years, it has tweaked its platform and constantly rewarding smart markters instead of marketers loaded with huge budget to spent.

Personally, I believe it leveled the playing field for many small business owners and gave them the edge to beat the big boys competitors at their game. While Adwords has a great learning center where you can pick up good information on their ppc platform, the ways to win in this Adwords ppc game is definitely not found there.

While it’s easy to get started in Adwords, it’s also very easy to lose your shirt. As it gains in popularity, it also means it’s getting more and more competitive by the day to use this channel. First off, I use Adwords for 3  purposes.

1. Online Sales & Leads Generation

It’s for me to generate online sales for my company. I target both the B2B and B2C markets. Those that I can’t convert into sales, I will have leave their details behind for our sales folk to follow up.

2. Branding Exercise

I use its Content Network for branding too. And if I do get a sale or generate a lead, that’s a bonus, if not getting the awareness out is more important though less measurable.

3. Gather Intelligence

Since it attracts the most traffic amongst the search engines, it has vast amount of information about your customers you can learn about. The longer you run your campaign, the more you know about what’s of interest to your customers. And marketing is all about communicating to the right target audience, where even the worst of offers will convert too. I am looking for keywords. So for this, you need to have a top notch web analytics installed on your server hosting your website.
